Lets-Play-Music Community Orchestra Manager

In an era increasingly shaped by artificial intelligence, community orchestras offer a vital space for authentic human connection and creative expression that technology cannot replicate. While AI can now generate music and art, it cannot capture the profound experience of people coming together to create music collectively – a process that builds meaningful relationships across generations and backgrounds while preserving and evolving cultural traditions. These orchestras provide more than just musical entertainment; they create a framework for community building, lifelong learning, and personal growth that becomes increasingly valuable as automation reshapes traditional work and social structures. Through the shared experience of making music together, participants find purpose, develop skills, and forge connections that demonstrate how local, human-centered institutions can thrive and provide essential meaning in our digital age.

About this system

This system has been developed to help community orchestras and players connect and manage their membership and organisations, including their music library. It was distilled from 15 years of real world experience playing in and managing such an organisation.

Members

As a member you can find orchestras in your area that you can apply to join, or if you are a member of an orchestra in the system, your can view your orchestras information, manage your contact details, including what instrument/s you play (to assist your music librarian in preparing your sheet music), view your membership status within each orchestra and more. Members can be players or volunteers/helpers/admin. You don't have to be a member of an orchestra to use the site or join the Discord server, and there is no cost to being a member of this system.

Orchestras

As an orchestra, your designated managers will have additional access to a suite of tools to help manage your organisation, including membership management, asset management, sheet music library management, playlist creation, concert/event promotion, and of course your public information to promote your orchestra to potential new members, including links to your social media and rehearsal details.

The system will be free to use initially while under development, moving to a very affordable annual subscription model in 2026 to fund ongoing development.

Sheet Music Library

All users can access the centralised sheet music database to help you search for new sheet music for your orchestras performances. The database maintains links to the source supplier for each piece (not the music itself) plus videos or recordings of performances, and has many search and filtering options to help you find the music you need. All members can suggest additions to the database which will expand the database to benefit all. This is a simple process of submitting the URL to the specific title from the distributor or publisher, which the system will then process into the database for others to reuse and add to their own orchestra's library. Each orchestra can maintain their own library using the common database of records and create playlists of past or future planned concerts for members to view.

The centralised library has been designed to work with a new digital library management and music preparation tool that is currently in development.
